The Trinity Unpacked: Understanding the Divine Roles Through Everyday Analogies
Can the concept of the Trinity ever truly be understood? Today on "I'm a Believer," we promise to unpack this profound mystery, breaking it down into relatable terms that both new believers and seasoned Christians can grasp. Imagine God as the visionary business creator, Jesus as the supervisor who walked among us, and the Holy Spirit as the guiding force—each playing a unique role in the divine enterprise. We use everyday analogies, like the three forms of water, and even a business model, to shed light on how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit operate within the framework of Christian doctrine.
Whether you've just accepted Christ or have been walking in faith for years, this episode offers valuable insights into one of Christianity's core beliefs. We encourage you to jot down notes and discuss these concepts with your pastor or trusted Christian friends. This episode is especially beneficial for those guiding others on their spiritual journey, providing clarity and practical explanations that are easy to share.

Speaker 1:But today let's get on to that topic of the Trinity. The Trinity is what we consider, the three in one meaning God, jesus and Holy Spirit. Now it can be very complicated. Again, maybe that's one of the most complicated questions I think we have been asked. The other one is how did God get created? Well, I don't know if we're going to get to that question in this series, but if God leads me to answer that question, then we will do that as well. The Trinity People have tried to explain the Trinity in different ways, trying to bring an earthly concept to it, because sometimes these concepts that we find in the Bible are just above our ability to understand, and that is okay.
Speaker 1:I have heard the analogy of water. We can see water in three different ways. We see water, of course. We see water as ice and we see water as steam. Those are the three forms of water and they all come from water. Gosh, that sounds. No, I'm not going to go there, but water we drink. Ice is a frozen form of water and steam is just a steam version of water as well. All three of them serve a different function. All three of them have a different form. So that is the analogy of the Trinity.
Speaker 1:I would like to use an analogy of a business. Now, again, this is my own creation, so don't go looking it up on the internet trying to find out if it's the truth or not. It's just something that made sense to me. I don't know, or not. It's just something that made sense to me. I don't know. It might make sense to you as well.
Speaker 1:I think of the Trinity as in a business. God is the business creator. He came up with this idea of this new business and he needs somebody to operate his business. So then he sends Jesus. Now, keep in mind, jesus is also a former employee. Well, what do I mean by that? Jesus did walk on this earth for 30 some years. He intermingled with the people, people knew him, people touched him, people ate dinner, people drank with him. There were people that followed Jesus Christ on this earth. So Jesus is a tangible person. God sent Jesus. God is the owner, sent his supervisor to his business.
Speaker 1:Now Jesus, as the supervisor of the business, will help people understand what's going on in the business. I don't know if I like the word rules of the business, but if you are hired into a company, they have rules, right. You don't just go to a business and say, well, I'm going to just do it my way. I know you all have rules and you all have regulations. Those are such stringent words, I don't like them in this form, but let's just go with it. So Jesus says here's the rules, here's the way that you, too, can be advanced. So just think of it in that form.
Speaker 1:Now Jesus says okay, listen, in order for you to work in this business that God has created, you need to take some training. You need to, and also you need to know. You know, hey, this is the right way, this is not the right way. How do you, how do I know that? Because Jesus can't be with every single person every single day. Right, he's got stuff to do. So that's where the Holy Spirit comes into play. And the Holy Spirit is the one who can be with every single employee. He can guide every employee, he can give them the knowledge of right and wrong, the right and the wrong of that business, and he's right alongside every single employee. So that's what we consider to be the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was left for all of us Now in the Old Testament and I know you probably, if you're a new believer, you may not have had a chance to read it, but I want you to.
Speaker 1:I don't want you to ignore the Old Testament. It's very important. But in the Old Testament the Holy Spirit came upon people that God had chosen to do tasks, jobs for him, and these tasks and jobs were not easy and the Holy Spirit came and went upon these people. But in the New Testament, once you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, that Holy Spirit stays with you. He is with you.
Speaker 1:Have you ever felt like, oh, what I just did was wrong. How did I know that was not right? You know, I didn't have any formal teaching in that. How did I know that what I just did was sinful or not right? That's called the nudging of the Holy Spirit, and sometimes we will ignore that and you may be shaking your head right now. Yep, that's what I've done. That's why I'm in the mess that I'm in today, because I ignored the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 1:You know, it's kind of like have you ever been so thirsty and then, all of a sudden, you guzzle down a cold glass of water or something and then you quench your thirst, you feel relieved, you know you feel revived. That's kind of like what we do to the Holy Spirit. You know he's within us, but we've got this desire that we want to do something, and so we fill it with our own answers and our own solutions and then pretty soon we don't feel that need for the Holy Spirit, just like you don't feel that thirst anymore. You can do that with the Holy Spirit. You can push that Holy Spirit away and away and away.
Speaker 1:Some people can go as far as saying that's blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, meaning you just totally shove him out of your life and you're like, no, I'm not, I don't believe in that anymore. I'm going to do things my way. This is the year 2024. This is different today. This is how people are today. This is the way the world is today. Now, jesus and the Holy Spirit and God no, that's old thinking. New thinking is and you all know what new thinking that we're talking about today and people are falling into the trap of not listening to that Holy Spirit or trying to make up their own rules and look, when we have a business where everybody's trying to make up rules, before you know it, you have chaos, and I think in the year 2024, we have chaos. This world is very chaotic. People have gotten away from what is truth.
Speaker 1:The Holy Spirit knows the truth and you have to go to the Holy Spirit within you and say show me the truth, show me the way, guide me, nudge me. Sometimes we need to be pushed because the Holy Spirit says that's what I'm here for. Allow me to help you find your way. I hope that analogy kind of helped you a little bit. Again, that is a very complicated. It can be complicated.
Speaker 1:And remember what I told you in the beginning when you're trying to find a new church, don't fall into the trap of a church that says, well, no, that's not true, the Trinity is not true. Again, that's one of those things where, if you ask that church what is their belief, and their belief is not true. Again, that's one of those things where, if you ask that church what is their belief, and their belief is not in the Trinity. This is where, again, you thank them for their time and you run and do not stay back and let them try to explain their little version that they've created. Don't even give them the opportunity to waste their time on that, because it's a total waste of time.
Speaker 1:So I'm telling you, listen to that spirit within you, let that spirit guide you. So remember God created all of us. He came here in the form of Jesus Christ and then, when Jesus died and then was resurrected and then went into heaven and seated at the right hand of God, they left us. God left us with that Holy Spirit. Each and every one of us has the Holy Spirit and you need to call upon that Holy Spirit every day, even if it's just to say thank you. Thank you, guide me today, open my eyes, open my ears, open my heart. Don't allow me to get off of this path and if I try to step one little toe into the path of the devil, yank me back on that path as quickly as you can. Holy Spirit that, I believe, is a good definition of the Trinity. Write it down. When you start to feel that nudging inside of you, just know that's Holy Spirit talking to you. Thank the Holy Spirit for doing that and thank God for all that he is doing in your life. Now listen.
Speaker 1:Our next question, our next podcast is going to be Jesus died on the cross for me. He didn't even know me. How many years ago was that? I wasn't even born. Is that even true? Well, we're going to answer that question in our next episode. I want to thank you for coming and listening and having an open mind and just trying to learn the basics of Christianity. And for those of you who are guiding somebody, or you have guided somebody and you've kind of lost track of them, find them, see what they're doing, see if they need your help, guide them, help them. Don't give up and, as all of us as believers, never give up, keep fighting and forging forward for all of those, because this is what we're here for to win souls for Jesus Christ. Thank you for listening and I will see you in our next episode.
