Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to Now. I'm a Christian. Now, what this podcast is hoping? I'm hoping that it is answering some of your questions. Some may be very basic to you and I'm hoping some will be maybe complex and maybe some are difficult to understand, and I'm hoping that I'm helping to alleviate some of your misunderstandings. If not, remember, take these questions to your pastor or to your trusted Christian friends and find out what they believe. And don't forget you have your Holy Bible with you. Look it up, check it out, find out for yourself what you want to know. But for now, I want to welcome you Now.

Speaker 1:

When we were here last time, we talked a little bit about the Holy Spirit, god, jesus, also known as the Trinity. What I would like to add to that, though, is that some people have felt that nudging of the Holy Spirit before they accepted Jesus Christ. Some people didn't even know who Jesus was and said I was walking down the street, there's a church, and I felt this nudging or a pulling on me to go into the church, and I did just that and accepted Jesus Christ. That's what we call prevenient grace. That's what God does. His wonderful love for us is preparing our heart, or was preparing your heart to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. That's a wonderful gift, that's the grace of God, that's what he gives you so that you, you know, on your own accord would probably live in your sinful nature, because that's what you would want. But then, all of a sudden, you start to feel this I need to change, I need a savior. I don't know what to do. And there you are, standing before God in a church or with your Christian friends or wherever you might be, right there on the street and accepting Jesus into your heart. Some people have said I was driving along and on the radio came somebody preaching the word of God and I pulled over and accepted Jesus Christ right there on the street. And that is what we call pervenient grace.

Speaker 1:

Today's question is I was told that Christ died for me on the cross. Now, listen, that was a long time ago. I was not even born. Is that even true? Well, the idea is that Jesus' sacrifice transcends all time, meaning his death was not just for those who were alive at that moment, because that would be a very select few of people, but for all of humanity, all people, you, me, the Old Testament saints, new Testament saints, all of us. God sent Jesus to die on that cross for you and me, no matter when we were born, and no matter when somebody is going to be born until the end of time.

Speaker 1:

Now in the Bible, particularly in the New Testament, that's what we call the atonement Jesus' act of taking on the sins of humanity so that anyone, even those who have yet to be born, could be reconciled with God. So this is God demonstrating his own love for us in this way. While we're still sinners. He died for us. This indicates that Christ made a sacrifice for everyone, including people who have come and gone, you and the people in the future. Jesus offers us salvation for those who believe in him, regardless of when they were born. That is his grace, that is his mercy. That is something we don't even deserve, but he gives it to us. He gives it to you freely. You can accept it freely. If you haven't done that, I pray that you do it today.
